Nelson's beach is a significant landmark that attracts visitors from all over New Zealand. It is truly stunning and often overlooked by the locals. The main beach, located closest to the main road, is where most people go for a swim. However, if you venture further down the beach, past the expansive sandbar during low tide, you will reach the back beach, which is dog-friendly. In the summer, the back beach area is perfect for kite surfing, while swimming is ideal on the main beach. It's important to note that the back beach area may have strong currents.
It's a beautiful location, just a short distance from the town.
The beach is absolutely stunning, although it's important to note that dogs are not allowed on most parts of the beach. However, there is a designated area where they are permitted. It's advisable to check online for more information to avoid any surprises. I've personally visited on calm days, and it's a wonderful spot for children. The lack of big waves during this time makes it perfect for them, and the waters are shallow enough for them to play in safely. Additionally, there are several playgrounds nearby that cater to different age groups, as well as an animal park (which requires an admission fee), a water park, mini golf, go-karts, and more. The options are truly endless. Conveniently, there are public toilets near the beach, and there are also various food choices within walking distance or a short drive away. The best part is that parking is free in the carparks. Furthermore, there are accommodation options available within walking distance as well.
This beach is absolutely amazing and conveniently located in town! It never fails to impress with its breathtaking beauty. If it were located elsewhere, it would surely be crowded, but here you can enjoy long walks along the beach without feeling crowded. The sunsets and sunrises are particularly stunning, making it the perfect time to visit. There is ample parking available all along the beach. However, during busy times like sunny weekends and holidays, it's important to be cautious as parking may be more limited.
Well... Being a beach, it's naturally awesome, isn't it? It's a fantastic public beach. When we went there once, we were initially concerned about finding parking, but we managed to find a spot without any difficulty. It wasn't overly crowded, which was nice. We enjoyed the convenience of having some eateries and bars nearby. We would have loved to have more time to spend here.
