Being from the South-East, I'm accustomed to smaller beaches, but this summer I was pleasantly surprised to come across the vast, sandy beaches of the Atlantic that I had enjoyed in my childhood. While staying in Royan, my friend and I took advantage of a late August afternoon to go for a swim at the stunning Vaux-sur-mer beach. I discovered that it was the beginning of a scenic coastal trail adorned with lush greenery, holm oaks, and maritime pines.
The beach is a beautiful and secure location that is perfect for families, with plenty of available parking spaces nearby. The beach club is excellent for kids, and the staff are friendly and proficient in English. Additionally, there is a decent selection of cafes and restaurants on the waterfront.
The beach is pleasant, but there are no restroom facilities or areas to change clothes.
This beach is stunning and never overcrowded like the larger beaches in Royan or the wild coast. Depending on the time of day, the scenery can be seen in varying lights, and the sunsets are breathtaking. Additionally, the water here is warmer compared to other beaches.
This family beach is one of my favorites. I've been vacationing here for 30 years and it never disappoints.
