Plage du Chay is located on the Biscay bay (part of North Atlantic Ocean) and it is in the 20th place out of 52 beaches in the Charente-Maritime region 60.5 km away from its center, the city of La Rochelle. It is one of the beaches of Royan settlement, just 1.2 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area.

It is a spacious several bays coastline with blue water and brown sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season.

The restaurant is situated in a stunning location with a view of the beach. The food is fantastic and the staff are exceptional. Although the cost per person is around €30, it is definitely worth the price. The oysters, squid, and mussels are all cooked and presented beautifully.

The restaurant's location is lovely, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The food is delicious, but unfortunately, the oysters weren't shucked properly, resulting in shell pieces being left inside. Additionally, the oysters were not disconnected from the bottom shell, which is unusual. Despite this, I would still return to the restaurant.

This is a lovely spot with delicious cuisine and friendly servers. The seaside and ocean vistas are exceptional, particularly during the off-season when there are fewer people around.

This beach is a stunning spot with a charming cove. The terrace is ideal for a cozy aperitif, surrounded by lush greenery and a view of the beach. The food is delicious with generous portions and visually appealing. I highly recommend the grilled cuttlefish served with homemade aioli. To cap off the evening, try a sip of their house-flavored rum.
