We embarked on a precarious hike to reach this beach, but decided to take a detour in our Dinghy instead. The entrance to the beach is conveniently located on the side, but be sure to steer clear of the treacherous rocks. The beach itself is petite and remote, which provided us with plenty of privacy. As for the snorkeling, it was nothing to write home about - just your run-of-the-mill underwater exploration.
The journey to reach this beach may require a bit of effort. The shoreline is adorned with rocks and may not be ideal for swimming. Given the existence of other beaches, I would personally opt to forego this one.
We embarked on a hiking expedition from the entrance located off of north shore drive, just past Estate Lindholm. Our choice of route was based on its proximity to our location, but in hindsight, it was not the best decision. The trail was steep and rocky, making it a challenging trek. Upon reaching the beach, we realized that shade was in short supply, and the access to the water that didn't involve navigating over rocks was limited. We were disappointed to find that the snorkeling experience was unsatisfactory, with very little marine life and a completely dead reef. Despite these setbacks, we managed to spend five hours on the beach. We arrived to find around 15 to 20 people present, but by the time we left at 2 pm, we had the entire beach to ourselves. It's worth noting that families with children didn't stay long, as the beach is not particularly kid-friendly, with too many rocks and too little shade. We recommend bringing water to stay hydrated.
To reach the beach, start at Estate Lindholm and take a 3-minute uphill walk to the National Park sign. The trail sign is located just behind it. Follow the sign and walk downhill until you reach a point where you need to turn left towards the path leading to Solomon Beach. The entire hike takes around 20-25 minutes and I suggest embarking on this journey in the morning, between 8/9 am and 1/2 pm, to make the most of the shade provided by the trees. Once you're done enjoying the beach, take a 20-minute hike to the town and grab some lunch and drinks. This is an ideal way to spend your morning and get some exercise while exploring the natural beauty of the area.
Our family embarked on a scenic hike from the NPS visitor's center, exploring the breathtaking Lind Point trail. Although the trail was moderately challenging, our two young children were able to complete it with some grumbling, and the stunning view at the end was well worth the effort. Salomon Beach, while more rugged than Honeymoon Beach, offers a peaceful and secluded atmosphere, free from the hustle and bustle of resort crowds. A brief additional hike leads to the amenities at Caneel Bay/Honeymoon Beach, where visitors can enjoy refreshments, rentals, tours, and facilities. However, caution should be exercised when exploring the rocky terrain, as sea urchins are common, and we even spotted a moon jelly during our visit.
