This is one of my all time favorite beaches. Private military, clean, toy bin for all kids to use/donate, peaceful, and equip to rent! Restaurant right next to it and grills!!
The beach is absolutely stunning! I adore visiting during the sunset hours. Although it may not be my top choice for a swim, I relish in the opportunity to bask in the sun and relax on the shore.
Access to this beach requires military base clearance. Lifeguards are present to ensure safety. Rentable covered areas with picnic tables are available. The waves are generally mild, and the current is not forceful. On the left, you can witness planes taking off from the airport. Restrooms and a shower area are provided for post-beach clean-up.
The lavatories are spick and span, and there are both indoor and outdoor showers to rinse off the sand. The beach is teeming with picnic tables, so you can chow down on your sandwiches without getting sand in your grub. The waves are petite, so the little ones can paddle around without getting swept away. It's a safe and hygienic spot, with no whiff of marijuana or any smashed windows to be seen. But make sure to give the rules a once-over before you saunter onto the sand. If you're using Google Maps, aim for The Lanai At Mamala Bay instead of Hickam Beach, or you might end up at the airport's secure gate with no way in. And if you're into wind boarding, this is the place to be!
Nestled within the Hickam Airforce base lies a stunning and intimate beach that boasts of crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views. The beach is exclusively accessible to military personnel and their families, with a lifeguard always on standby to ensure safety. Visitors with a military sponsor or DoD civilian can rent kayaks or SUP boards at the Hickam Beach office, while sailboats and covered cabanas can be rented at the Marina MWR office. The grassy picnic area offers bathroom facilities for both men and women, along with several picnic tables shaded by towering trees. On a Sunday morning, we arrived at 10:30 and found ample free parking spaces available.
