Playa de la Arena is located on the Biscay bay (part of North Atlantic Ocean) and it is in the 14th place out of 18 beaches in the Biscay region 17.4 km away from its center, the city of Bilbao. It is one of the beaches of La Sequilla settlement, just 3.3 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area, among the mountains.

It is a spacious bay with crystal blue water and brown fine sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season.

Playa de la Arena coast is free for all. This beach has the following amenities, showers. During the season this beach line is supervised by a lifeguard.

Playa de la Arena close to Bilbabo is truly remarkable. It is the place where the Barbadun river meets the Atlantic Ocean, with a unique shape. The sand is of excellent quality and the sunlight reflecting off the still water creates a stunning effect. Unlike most beaches, you can't always see the open sea from many spots on this beach, but the contrast between sand banks and large puddles is mesmerizing. This beach is definitely worth a visit due to its originality.
