The beach poses a significant risk due to the accumulation of waste materials that are brought in by powerful water currents. The debris in the water can be hazardous to swimmers and divers, making it essential to avoid entering the sea at this location. It is crucial to exercise caution when visiting this beach and to be mindful of the potential dangers that exist.
Dear Greece, it would be greatly appreciated if you could enhance the beauty of this beach. I am left with a sense of disappointment and questioning the reason for my annual return.
The beach is littered with trash that gets blown around by the wind.
Unfortunately, the beach is littered with garbage and it's located adjacent to an abandoned resort/town.
As I drove past this beach three decades ago, it was nothing more than a dumpsite with plastic waste scattered everywhere. Recently, I revisited the area, and to my dismay, nothing had changed - it was still a plastic dump. This has been an ongoing problem for Crete, and it's quite an eyesore. However, this cove and beach have the potential to be a beautiful sand and gravel beach. The neighboring Traditional Cretian Village complex is also deteriorating, which is another eyesore. It's possible that the sea currents in this area naturally collect garbage, leaving the rest of the coast looking pristine. Nevertheless, I recommend continuing on the road towards the east to explore the Monastery, Vai Beach, Istron Beach, and Minoan Ruins, as they are the true gems of eastern Crete.
