I had the pleasure of visiting one of the most breathtaking beaches in the world. The water was a mesmerizing array of blues, each shade more beautiful than the last. The pristine condition of the water was evident from the moment I set foot on the pink sand. I highly recommend renting an umbrella, but be sure to close it before taking a dip in the lagoon as the wind can be quite strong.
I am absolutely enamored with this beach! The crystal-clear waters are a stunning shade of blue that I have always longed to witness. The shallowness of the water is a comforting feature, as it allows even the most hesitant of swimmers to enjoy a dip. Exploring the area on foot is a must-do, as the panoramic view from the top is breathtaking. The only downside was the quick departure of the ferry, which left little time for further exploration. I truly wish the tour could have been longer, as this beach is truly a gem.
What a breathtaking destination! Embarked on a delightful boat excursion to this idyllic beach. While the waters may be shallow for a significant portion, there is ample space for swimming that is secure, inviting, and rejuvenating. The beach offers complimentary beds and umbrellas for all visitors. Although driving is an option, be prepared to trek down a steep mountain for about 20 minutes to reach this paradise.
This beach is just stunning. Of course, you have to pay 1€ per person just to get in, because why not squeeze every penny out of tourists? The road to get there is not too terrible, but let's be real, if you're used to Slovenian roads, anything feels like a luxury. You can fit a couple of cars on the road, but be cautious if you rented a car because insurance won't cover any off-road damage. Once you park, get ready for a lovely 20-minute walk to the beach. My suggestion? Get there before 9:30am and leave by noon. There were barely any cars in the parking lot and even some goats were hanging out. The beach was basically empty until a huge ferry showed up with at least 350 people. There's a small canteen and toilets available for the low, low price of 1€. But let's be honest, you're not there for the amenities. Balos is truly a sight to behold and I guess I'd recommend it to anyone, even though I'm not really a fan of recommending anything. 😒
This stunningly beautiful Balos Beach is an absolute must-see destination. You have several options to get here, including taking a ferry from Kissamos, Chania, Rethymno, or even Herkalion, or driving a car or moped. However, the last 9-10 km is an off-road bumpy path, so be prepared for a bit of a rough ride. Our group rented a small car, which worked out just fine. The parking areas are free of charge, so you don't have to worry about any extra expenses. After a pleasant 15-minute walk, which covers about 1.3 km, you'll finally arrive at the beach. Balos beach boasts a white sand and exotic white, vivid blue and turquoise waters. The sea is very shallow and warm, making it an ideal spot for young children. Trust us, this beach is definitely worth the trip.
