Megas Gialos beach is located on the Aegean Sea (part of Mediterranean Sea) and it is in the 111th place out of 1022 beaches in the South Aegean region 7.9 km away from its center, the city of Ermoupoli. It is one of the beaches of Ampela settlement, just 0.3 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area with very picturesque views, among the mountains. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a small several bays coastline with crystal turquoise water and brown sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season.

This beach boasts a stunning sandy shoreline, sheltered from the north wind, making it tranquil even when other beaches are not. The water gradually deepens, making it shallow for a good distance. You can drive right up to it and park close by.
