Charging 60 euros for a set of sunbeds in the first row seems quite steep. Especially when you can find most sunbeds for free at Stoupa Beach, just by ordering something. Plus, the scenery at Stoupa Beach is much more enjoyable. We are in Peloponese after all, and while it is beautiful, it's not worth trying to charge Mykonos prices.
During peak season, it's best to avoid that beach as it tends to get extremely crowded. The beach is packed with numerous rows of umbrellas and the water is as congested as it is in Athens. Overall, it's not worth the hassle.
Kalogria beach, also known as Παραλία Καλόγριας in Greek, is a stunning sandy beach that has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag designation. It can be found near the village of Araxos in the Northwestern Peloponnese region of Greece. The beach is situated next to the Sprofylia natural park and is approximately 9 kilometers long and 80 meters wide, making it one of Greece's longest sandy beaches. The area surrounding the beach is dotted with sand dunes, which have been formed by sea sand that is carried by westerly winds and the Ionian Sea waves. These dunes cover an area of 200 hectares and can reach heights of up to 10 meters and widths of 20 to 500 meters. The largest sand dune in Peloponnese and one of the largest in Greece can be found at the north edge of the beach. Tourists and locals alike flock to Kalogria beach, which is conveniently located near several hotels and restaurants. The Araxos airport is also just 7 kilometers away. Unfortunately, the Strofylia forest beside the beach has been the target of several arson attempts over the past decade, with two major incidents occurring in 2015 and 2017. Despite this, the beach remains a popular destination for those seeking to enjoy the natural beauty of Greece. Visitors to the beach from the north may not even notice the effects of the fires, except for a small area next to the large dune.
During the off-season when there aren't any sunbeds, this beach is a paradise! However, it's still worth visiting for a refreshing swim.
Easy accessible, the water is simply stunning!
