The beach is beautiful and there's a gentle left-hand wave. The kids can enjoy rock climbing and hunting for crabs.
This beach is great for surfing, but be aware of the currents. During low tide, it's a perfect spot for those who enjoy walks among the rocks. While it may not be the best choice for families, it's definitely less crowded compared to the beaches in St Jean de Luz.
This is my go-to spot on the Basque coast. The beach is absolutely stunning with its rocky outcroppings and warm, calm waters that are home to a variety of sea creatures like crabs, fish, and shrimp. Plus, there are even some shaded areas to relax in (although they're not available between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.). Of course, there are a few downsides, like the tricky parking situation during peak season and the fact that the sand isn't super fine and there are sometimes pebbles in the water. But overall, it's a true paradise - a wild escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Plus, there are plenty of snack options nearby, whether it's high season or not (I highly recommend bibam).
Excellent
The beach is sandy and quite spacious for the Basque coast, with two possible entrances from the North or South. However, parking is limited on both sides. There are small restaurants nearby with a pleasant view, and swimming is supervised during the summer. One downside is that swimming may not be enjoyable outside of high tide due to the rocks in the water. On the other hand, low tide is great for crab fishermen. It's important to note that line fishing is only allowed from the shore and not from the rocks. Unfortunately, there is a small stream leading to the beach that doesn't look very attractive, and a wastewater treatment plant is located nearby. During heavy rain, the sewers overflow and discharge directly onto the beach, so it's best to avoid swimming after a storm. Despite these issues, it's still a typical Basque beach with its charm and the challenges that come with urbanization and overpopulation in the area.
