This beach is absolutely amazing! If you're looking for a place to soak up the sun and enjoy the ocean, this is the spot for you. The water is a stunning shade of blue and the sand is soft and inviting. Spending a few hours here swimming and lounging is the perfect way to start your day, although it can get quite hot in the afternoon. The only downside is the lack of facilities. If you need to use the restroom, you'll have to take a drive. However, aside from that minor inconvenience, this beach is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The water is warm and crystal clear, making it an ideal location for a day at the beach.
Due to turtle nesting season, access to the beach is limited. However, the beach is clean and stunningly beautiful. Although it used to be even better with fewer visitors, it still maintains its charm. The water can be a bit rough on the tip and south side, so it's recommended for stronger swimmers.
Before visiting this beach, I wish I had known about its limited hours of operation - only open on weekends from September through March, from 10-4. However, once I finally made it in, I was faced with the challenge of choosing which beach to go to. During my visit on Christmas Day 2022 with my two young boys, we discovered that the first and second beaches had a steep drop-off and were susceptible to direct wind, resulting in wild waves. Thankfully, the Park Rangers informed us that the last beach (located at the end of a dirt road) was the ideal spot for families. This beach boasted soft sand, crystal-clear blue water, and a gentle walk-in. Once we arrived, we noticed that the locals were well-prepared with coolers, small tents, chairs, and floaties. It was evident that they were seasoned beach-goers. The beach was bustling with people, and we were able to find a good spot to set up. One thing to note is that the road leading to the beach is narrow, which made passing other cars in our pickup truck quite interesting at times. Overall, it was a fantastic beach experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable day by the water.
The beach is a turtle sanctuary, which means it's only accessible to the public on weekends from 10 AM to 4 PM, except during turtle mating season when it's closed. Despite being located far from anything on St. Croix, there are three beaches with small parking lots that fill up quickly. However, this also means that the beaches are not crowded and are well-maintained, as visitors are expected to help maintain the sanctuary. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming.
The beach is absolutely stunning! It can get quite crowded on winter weekends with both locals and tourists. It's advisable to bring along a hat or a tent for shade as there isn't much natural shade available. The water is crystal clear and the sand is soft and powdery. Even during non-turtle season, you can still spot the remnants of turtle nests in the form of pits on the beach.
