Absolutely adore this beach! It's a complete hidden treasure. Finding parking might be a tad challenging depending on the time of day, but I've always managed to secure a spot. I enjoy bringing my furry friend here and watching the sunset!
One of the broadest beaches in the Los Angeles area. This beach is also among the least crowded! Since it is possibly the least traveled through of oceanfront communities, although those who pass through here from other beachside communities of South Bay, as well as the cyclists along the beach bike path! The beach here is pristine, the water is fine except when the creek and storm drains empty. Lifeguards are stationed nearby, enough to offer assistance as needed, and the local Los Angeles Police patrols the backside, where an upscale Playa Del Rey community surrounds the beach. Beach volleyball might be the most popular sand sport here, with several well-maintained nets available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are public restrooms, trash containers, and an almost always present maintenance crew, keeping up appearances! I enjoy biking through here on part of the long coastal bike path! The path continues north around Marina Del Rey, all the way through Venice Beach and up to Santa Monica and back! It's part of a really long pathway that extends from Will Rogers Beach in Los Angeles, at the north end, all the way south, alongside South Bay beaches down to Torrance State Beach! Being just outside of LAX can be intriguing or annoying, depending on the perspective. After having lived in the area for years, I've become indifferent. I used to park at the northernmost parking lot of Dockweiler State Beach for a fee, though now parking along Vista Del Mar at the incline ramp. The street parking is free here, though risky with passing traffic, so caution is advised! The incline is located on the opposite side of the street from where Vista Del Mar meets Vista Del Mar Lane and Waterview Street.
Lovely location for a sunset stroll. Areas for campfires, spacious beach that prevents overcrowding. I spent $8 for parking, but it was simple to locate and the restrooms were fairly tidy. I captured this couple's engagement pictures there, they came out stunning!
Lovely shoreline for a leisurely stroll and relaxation. Ideal spot for sunset enthusiasts as well. The sand is velvety and the beach is well-maintained. Note that there are no beach loungers available, so remember to bring your own chair or blanket for sunset viewing.
This beach is my go-to spot. It's never overly crowded and is particularly lovely in the early hours of the day. You can take a leisurely stroll along the shore or opt for a bike ride on the nearby path. The sunsets at this beach are truly breathtaking. Whether you choose to venture out onto the jetty or simply relax and admire the crashing waves, there's something for everyone here. Just be cautious during the winter months when the surf can get quite large.
