This was my first time visiting this beach, and I'm grateful for the helpful reviews that reminded me to bring bug spray for the trail. I was relieved that I did because the mosquitoes were absolutely terrible. If you paused for even a moment, they would swarm all over you. I visited in early June and arrived at 9 am during low tide. The beach itself is incredibly beautiful, with unique pieces of driftwood and fascinating rocks. The sand is soft and inviting. It's a truly peaceful place. However, I was a bit disappointed because it was advertised as one of the best spots for tidepools, but I didn't come across much besides crabs and some small fish. I had high expectations for my first tidepool experience and was hoping to find some really amazing things, but this beach didn't deliver in that aspect. Nevertheless, it's still worth a visit solely for its breathtaking beauty.
We visited the beach on a Thursday in May around noon, and surprisingly, there were only a few people present! Although the waves resembled those of a lake, the sand was wonderfully soft, and the presence of rocks and trees added a distinctive touch to the overall experience. To reach the actual beach, you'll need to walk for about 5-10 minutes on a well-trodden sandy trail surrounded by lush vegetation, starting from the parking lot. Interestingly, you don't have to enter the park to access the beach. To pay the entrance fees, you can conveniently use an app or an envelope. Additionally, the beach is adorned with an abundance of shells and black rocks.
Keep in mind that there is a pleasant half mile walk surrounded by protected flora leading to a beautiful, untouched beach. It would be wise to bring bug spray for the walk. Additionally, please note that dogs are not allowed on this beach. Don't miss the opportunity to explore and admire the interesting driftwood and black rocks scattered around.
It's a must-visit spot! My boyfriend and I managed to arrive just in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise at the beach. The stroll was pleasant, although we were mercilessly attacked by mosquitoes. As someone from the countryside, I have never encountered such a severe mosquito problem on any trail before. Remember to bring insect repellent and consider wearing long sleeves to protect yourself. Once you reach the shoreline, you can choose to head left, which will lead you through the bone yard and to an expansive area of stunning black rock.
