Whihala Beach is located on the Michigan lake and it is in the 7th place out of 7 beaches in the Indiana region 240.7 km away from its center, the city of Indianapolis. It is one of the beaches of Whiting settlement, just 0.6 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a tiny bay with crystal turquoise water and gray sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

I really love this beach. They've made a huge improvement over the years with the landscaping and keeping the beach clean. There's noticeably fewer rocks near the shoreline this year vs last year also. From a family outing to a romantic stroll along the walkway, it's a place I visit multiple times each summer & fall seasons ⛱️

The beach was very clean with clear water. It was a serene experience.. Could see the stones underneath the water.. The bathrooms were ok. The crowd was less too on weekday..

Calm, beautiful beach tucked away in a semi-private area of northwest Indiana. It feels like you are away from the crowded and loud city beaches that are typical of Chicago and even Indiana Dunes. Very relaxing due to its peaceful location. Ample parking available; pay for parking at the card machines then place your paper receipt on your dash to let security know you've paid; parking rates are decent in my opinion- on average for two hours: $12.50; you can add time in half hour or hour increments up to 6pm which is when it closes. Security was letting everyone know 6pm beach was closing down; large trash cans available on beach- beware of the bees which like to swarm around them!; outdoor showers available near parking lot if you need to rinse/ wash off sand. Large port-o- potties near showers too; No lifeguard on duty on beach- "swim at your own risk" water reached up to 5'6" which was comfortable ...the quaint town of Whiting was easy and interesting to navigate through on the way there. Felt like I was in another state.... Be aware that you may be stopped by a freight train(s), Amtrak, etc. for almost up to 30+ minutes right before the entrance to the beach which is what happened to me 🤦‍♀️! Everyone seemed impatient at first but when the gates lifted cheering could be heard from multiple cars 😄

Chilled place. Great to be out with family and friends. Only down side is that you can’t grill out there. No charcoal or propane grills allowed. Other than that it’s a nice beach.
