The beach is situated in an amazing spot that gives you the sensation of being by the ocean while remaining close to Chicago. Although parking can be a bit challenging, it also indicates that this beach is a hidden treasure of the North shore. The walking trails are fantastic, seamlessly combining nature with convenience, all thanks to the Army Corps of Engineers. There is so much to do here, and I am excited to come back and experience it during different seasons. I highly recommend it!
The sunrise views are absolutely stunning. I definitely plan on returning. It's the ideal spot to enjoy the beautiful Lake Michigan sunrise each morning.
I visited the beach with the intention of witnessing the sunrise, and I must say, it did not disappoint! The beach itself is fantastic, and there's also a wonderful lookout point to enjoy the view.
Yesterday, we stumbled upon this beach and it is absolutely stunning, although it is quite narrow and rocky. The parking lot is incredibly small, with only around 30 spots available. As a result, there were an additional 40 cars parked outside of designated spaces, all of which received a $50 parking ticket. The beach was extremely crowded, with many people barbecuing and filling the air with smoke throughout the entire beach. The path to the beach takes around 6 minutes to traverse and is very steep, so if you're carrying things, you'll definitely get tired on the way back. The trails are also fantastic, but we won't be returning on weekends due to the excessive crowds. It's just too packed, with everyone lining up and not moving, waiting for someone to leave while the police issue tickets to everyone.
I deducted one star from my rating because I was taken aback by the limited size of their beach parking lot. It has the potential to reach full capacity quite quickly, leaving you fortunate to secure a spot (possibly by waiting for someone else to leave). It confuses me why they haven't expanded the parking lot considering the vast open land, stunning trails, and the beach itself that they have available for exploration. Therefore, I would advise caution when it comes to parking by the beach.
