I stayed at the Fox Campground and had an incredibly relaxing time. The park was recently taken over by the county, so everything has been updated and looks fantastic. The campground now has new picnic tables and fire rings. Additionally, there is a picnic area, a pavilion, and a separate playground from the camping area. All of the spots at the campground are great, but the waterfront spots are particularly beautiful. They are only about 100 yards away from the water. The beach itself is clean and sandy, with a few sandbars and only a minimal amount of shells washing up (I think they are zebra mussels). Out of all the spots, only three have electricity. Potable water is available at the entrance, and there are dumpsters and multiple clean porta potties (as clean as porta potties can be). However, there are no showers, regular bathrooms, or laundry facilities. On the back side of the campground, there are dense woods with a note warning about the presence of poison ivy. Although I haven't seen any myself, it's important to be aware if you decide to venture into the woods. The campground is dog-friendly, but it's important to clean up after your dog. Dogs are allowed on the beach and in the water without needing any permits, unlike the southern waterfront areas of Wisconsin. The only downside I can think of is the noise from the nearby M35 road. It can be a bit loud at times. Additionally, make sure to bring bug spray as mosquitoes and flies are always around. Today, the flies are biting more than usual due to the upcoming rain. Oh, and did I mention that the price is only $15 per night? For the spots with electricity, it's $25, and there's also a $10 processing fee. I will definitely be coming back to this campground in the future.
This park provides a fantastic respite from driving. We often find ourselves stuck behind yet another camper or semi truck going exactly 50 mph for miles on end. The road, with its curves, makes it risky to pass anyone, which can make the kids restless. However, this park has a nostalgic feel, with its old-school features like a metal slide, metal monkey bars, and massive swings. The top bar of the swings is easily 20 feet off the ground, allowing you to push your kids so high that your wife won't be able to keep an eye on them. My daughter had an uncontrollable laughter-filled blast, creating a wonderful memory. Afterward, we took a leisurely stroll along the beach, where my daughter enjoyed collecting small shells and the waves crashed against our feet. We walked for a bit and then turned back, which felt great after sitting for so long, as it helped us stretch our legs and regain some energy. The restroom facilities consist of a single Portapotty, and the picnic area is made up of worn-down picnic tables scattered along the beach. We noticed some people playing with their dog in the water not too far from the campsite, so it seems dog-friendly enough. This place may not be fancy, but it was exactly what we needed today. One of the swings is set up so high off the ground that even as a grown man standing at 6'5, I had to jump to get on it, and my feet didn't touch the ground. It was truly awesome! However, I must admit that the slide wasn't very enjoyable.
We made a pit stop at this beach to take a break and grab some dinner while on a road trip. I was genuinely impressed by how well-maintained and tidy it was! This place has such a serene and tranquil atmosphere, making it a delightful spot to unwind.
This beach is a fantastic spot to take a break. It offers a lovely picnic area and the beach itself is shallow with nearby sand bars. The sandy beach is also quite nice. Moreover, there are some playground equipment available for the kids, including a slide, swings, and a climbing structure. I would definitely consider stopping here for a break again.
It's a fantastic little park to have a picnic. Just before dusk, bugs start to appear, so make sure you're prepared. It's also a lovely place to take your dogs for a walk. The sand is clean and wonderfully soft.
