Shale Beach is located on the Huron lake and it is in the 64th place out of 151 beaches in the Michigan region 369.5 km away from its center, the city of Lansing. It is one of the beaches of Johnswood settlement, just 10.8 km from its center. The beach is located in a natural place.

It is a spacious coastline with crystal turquoise water and gray pebble, so it is highly recommended to wear special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers, hikers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

Shale Beach coast is free for all. It has no amenities, only nature. .

To get to the beach, you need to drive along a dirt road about 2km long. Parking is located directly on the beach.

Absolutely gorgeous! It would have been so fun to pack in camping gear and spend the night somewhere along the lake. There were plenty of places to set up.

Bring your 4x4, and crawl over rocks, ford through water holes and brave the bugs, but the view is well worth all of that

Awesome trail to get there. Came from the north side. Got there right a dusk. Was amazed at how much beach (rocky, not sandy) there was just beyond the pine trees. I overlanded I'm my truck with a rtt, but if one had regular tents, and maybe a foam mattress to deal with the rocks, then they could camp anywhere near the water's edge along the beach. This particular day, the wind was cranking, but being the beach is on the east side, the water was calm when I reached it. Plan on coming back with friends.
