This particular beach is supposedly the best on the entire island, but let's not get too carried away with the hype. As a retired military personnel, I have the privilege of accessing it all week long, but on weekends, it's open to the general public. Despite that, it's not exactly teeming with people, so you can still enjoy a modicum of solitude. The water is indeed light blue and transparent, which is a plus, but let's not pretend it's some sort of miracle. It's just decent, nothing more, nothing less.
We recently embarked on our first camping trip to the beach after relocating to the island. It was an absolute blast! However, I do wish I had done a bit more research beforehand to determine whether or not there were any built-in grills or fire pits available. Unfortunately, we brought along wood and charcoal without realizing that there wasn't a designated area for them 😂. Thankfully, there were nearby options for grabbing food. Our one-year-old daughter was with us and she had an amazing time. I highly recommend this beach for a family-friendly camping adventure!
I and my family camped here from Friday to Sunday, even extending our stay to relish the beach. The campsite's check-out time was at 11:00 am, but we couldn't resist the allure of the pristine shoreline. We appreciated the proximity of the parking area to our campsite, and the cleanliness of the grounds, including the abundance of trash receptacles, picnic tables, and spotless bathroom facilities. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning.
Bellows Air Force Base camping experience is an absolute blast! The cabins are a steal, and they are conveniently located in close proximity to the shoreline. Be mindful of the jellyfish tides on the east shore and pack some vinegar as a precaution. Additionally, the food truck fair, located approximately a mile away, is a charming and delightful attraction that you won't want to miss on most days.
What a stunning beach! I requested a companion to take me to a serene location far from the hustle and bustle of the city, with pristine and unspoiled sands. Although it is a 30-minute drive from Waikiki, it is absolutely worth it. If you don't have a truck, keep in mind that you'll get stuck in the sand if you want to park right on the beach. There are a few parking spots available, but you'll have to walk a little to reach the shore. It was breezy on the day I visited, but the water was warm, and despite the presence of jellyfish, I managed to avoid getting stung. The beach also has a camping area with plenty of shade after 1 pm, where you can park. The restrooms are kept clean, and there is fresh running water to rinse off the saltwater. If you're looking for a lovely beach to explore, I strongly recommend this one!
