This campground in the National Forest provided a pleasant change from the State Park ones. The majority of the sites offer a good amount of privacy and are generally not too close to each other. There is a wonderful beach just beyond the sand dune. Several sites boast stunning views of the ocean. In the back, there are also nice shaded sites nestled under a canopy of trees. The only drawback is its proximity to the 101 highway, so it's advisable to book a site as close to the beach as possible, as the sound of the waves will help drown out any road noise.
I really enjoyed this campground. We stayed at site 56 and absolutely loved it. Our site was nestled among the trees and had a picnic table and fire pit, which provided a sense of privacy. The bathroom was conveniently located nearby, and the beach was just a short stroll away. Although our site didn't have electricity or water, many other sites did offer these amenities. The campground was peaceful, although there was some faint noise from the nearby highway. Overall, I highly recommend this campground.
The beach has a fantastic location, just a quick stroll down 30 steps. It has a mix of rocks and ample smooth sand for walking. I had the pleasure of witnessing seven layers of crashing waves, which also brought in some agates. I stayed in the fully electric #57 loop 3, close to the restroom, but it was pleasantly quiet during the first week of May. The campground has three clean bathrooms scattered throughout the area, and there is a large trash can conveniently located near every campsite. The hosts were incredibly friendly, driving around multiple times a day.
The beach offers stunning spots with almost every site providing a picturesque view of the water. However, one drawback is that the spots are quite close to each other, resulting in limited privacy. On the bright side, the nights are peaceful and the camp hosts are exceptional.
We really enjoy Tillicum Beach Campground. Although it's not the management's fault, most of the campsites get flooded when it rains. Since we have a trailer, it didn't affect us as much as it would if we were tent camping. The bathrooms are well-maintained and clean. If you try calling the camp's number, don't bother because they claim they never receive the messages 🤨 Once again, it's not the management's fault, but accessing the beach can be quite challenging! They have nice stairs, but both entrances to the beach are surrounded by a mass of boulders that you have to climb on and around. If you have mobility issues, you won't be able to make it😩.
