We love returning home through the captivating dunes of this beach. The ultimate destination is the end of the road where you can stroll along the pier and observe playful seals frolicking in the water. Despite the abundance of parked vehicles, the atmosphere remains peaceful and serene. There is ample room for everyone to relish in the natural surroundings. While the weather has been somewhat chilly and foggy during our visits, the vast expanse of the beach makes it all worthwhile. It's an ideal location for flying kites! There are restrooms located along the road at various parking spots. These well-maintained pit toilets are easily accessible to all.
The South Jetty is a fantastic place to visit for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Whether you're content with just taking in the beautiful views or you're interested in exploring the shipwreck relics, going scuba diving, crabbing, fishing, or even parkouring the massive rocks that make up the jetty wall, there's something for everyone.
The beach is truly stunning and conveniently accessible, with the added bonus of being pleasantly uncrowded.
We spent a night here on a Saturday and everything went smoothly. The atmosphere was peaceful and serene, especially during the day when the view was beautiful. However, getting to the beach from the parking lot requires a bit of a trek over the dunes, but it's definitely worth it to witness a stunning ocean sunset. It's important to dress warmly as it can get chilly. The only downside was the unpleasant smell and lack of toilet paper in the pit toilet.
South Jetty is my go-to beach for a relaxing stroll. It's a public beach, so entry is free.
