This beach is a great spot for a leisurely walk with your pup. The car park is quite small and only accepts cash. The waves were a bit too choppy for swimming, but some wind surfers were taking advantage of the big swells. Unfortunately, there was a lot of litter scattered along the shoreline, which detracted from the experience. Additionally, the tide comes in quickly, so be mindful of the rocks or you could find yourself stuck on the wrong side.
This beach may not be the most beautiful in Wales, but it's still quite nice. It's huge, so it never feels too crowded, even when it is, which is great for me since I can't relax when it's busy. There's always plenty of room to set up a volleyball net and play, which we always do. It's only a 40-minute drive from Cardiff/Cearphilly, so it's very accessible. Some people may not like that it's open for dog walking and there aren't any toilets or shops (just a little ice-cream van), but I don't mind.
This beach is quite pleasant, though you should be careful where you step since some areas are quite rocky. That's all there is to it.
Trecco Bay holiday park to Merthyr Mar is a great beach for dogs all year round. Although it's not the best for swimming, the best sandy areas can be found near the rocks when the tide is out.
This beach is one of my top five favorites in Wales. It never fails to impress, with its sandy shore, rocky outcrops with rock pools, and plenty of space for family fun, even when it gets busy. The eastern part of the beach has a huge grassy sand dune area, and if you're lucky, you can even find jet skis. Most importantly, it's always clean - no rubbish or debris - and it's dog-friendly; I've never seen any discarded dog poo on the beach.
