That place is not suitable for children due to its potential dangers. If you don't have an offroad vehicle, you'll need to park near the water plant and walk for around 30 minutes. Along the way, there are some interesting sights to behold, such as an underwater cave that sprays water when hit by a wave. The Charcones pools are particularly hazardous; one never knows when a big wave might come and sweep someone away into the ocean. During our two-hour stay, we saw four such waves that had that potential. It's best to have someone keeping watch and not venture too far into the water. It's also important to check the tides. There are plenty of fish and crabs in the pools, but beware of sea urchins as well.
Searching for these pools was an absolute challenge! Not only were they not accurately marked on Google Maps, but the signs from the road were practically non-existent. To get to the Water Management Plant, you had to turn off the main road and drive down a dirt road. If you had a Land Rover, you could drive on the rocky path, but if not, you had to leave your car and walk down the rocky road along the coast. After a few kilometers and multiple stops to look over the cliff for pools, we found some breathtaking pools. However, getting down to them was like climbing down a mountain! We eventually found one that was accessible, but it was far from easy or safe. Despite the effort to get there, the pools were incredible and worth it. If you're up for an adventure, then I'd highly recommend it!
That place is a sight to behold! The natural pools are stunning and the perfect place to take a dip. If you're looking to drive there, a 4x4 is definitely the way to go. If you'd prefer to walk, park a bit further north and enjoy a 30 minute stroll to the beach. Either way, it's a must-see!
We tried to go to the beach, but the road shown on Google was closed. On the gate, there was a sign in Spanish that directed us to the road further north (towards 'Janubio'). We followed that road and parked at the end. Unfortunately, the sea was far away from the parking spot, so my partner used his drone to check it out before we started walking. The closest pool was too far away for us to risk making the trek with our 1.5-year-old in the heat. Although, it did look quite nice in the pictures! We saw some locals heading towards the sea with snorkeling gear, so it must have been the right spot. We're always up for an adventure, but without small children, so maybe we can check it out for ourselves next time.
This location is an absolute must-see if you're looking for a fun, active adventure. Forget about driving - you can reach this stunning spot in a mere 45 minutes on foot. You'll need to be physically fit to make it down, though, so leave the kids at home! To make the most of your visit, come at low tide to experience the amazing natural pools.
