This place is simply breathtaking! Be mindful of the gusty winds and pricey bars along the shoreline, yet for the remainder, this spot has a magical quality that is truly remarkable.
The west end of the beach near the lighthouse was quite busy even in the winter months, with a row of noisy, expensive bars and cafés. It had a rather commercial vibe, in stark contrast to beaches on the north side of the island. The east end, closer to Playa del Inglés, was a bit calmer, but the whole area was very windy. This was great for the few kite surfers, but not so great if you were hoping to spend some time on the beach. On the bright side, the views were beautiful, stretching along the coast and across the lake towards the mountains. The dunes behind the beach were much more peaceful and scenic, and definitely worth checking out. Plus, the beach boasted beautiful golden fine sand.
What a lovely little place! The walk along the front at night was well lit and safe, and the walk from the Lighthouse to the dunes during the day was an experience. Plus, the beach has golden fine sand, making it even more enjoyable. I had to cover the kids eyes a couple of times, but only because I wouldn't know how to answer the questions. The naked ramblers wearing only flipflops, a rucksack and a smile seemed really relaxed and at home, and the dunes were always in the sun, even when other parts of the island were in shade.
The beach was beautiful with lots of amenities nearby, and the dunes are definitely a must-see in Gran Canaria. It's a great experience, but be aware that there are nude sunbathers around. The sand is very hot underfoot, but the best part is that public entry is free!
This stunning beach stretches from Maspalomas to Playa del Inglés, making it perfect for long hikes. Not only is the beach beautiful, but it also features extensive dunes and a nature reserve. Best of all, it's free to enter, so you can take in the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets without spending a penny.
