This beach is a great spot to visit - it's clean and well-maintained. While entry is free, it seems that renting a beach chair will set you back around 80,000 dong. The swimming area is clearly marked with buoys, making it a safe place to take a dip. During peak season, it's likely that vendors will be selling snacks and refreshments.
The beach is very relaxed and peaceful, with a beautiful view. While it may not be a typical white tropical beach, it's still a great spot to spend the day. It's just a short walk from town, and there's a shack that offers simple food and beach cottages for rent.
My preferred beach on Cat Ba was located just a short 15-minute walk or 5-minute scooter ride from the main town, accessible via a slip road off the main road. It was noticeably more peaceful than the other beaches in the area, boasting a wide expanse of soft sand. The beach was perfect for swimming and safe for children as well. Sunbeds and umbrellas were readily available, and there was a charming open-air restaurant that served delicious food and beverages. Restrooms were also present on the beach. Overall, it was an ideal location to relax during the day and enjoy the sunset in the evening.
The only positive aspect was the fact that we had the beach to ourselves. Unfortunately, there was a lot of garbage around and when we sat on the lounge chairs for just five minutes, someone approached us in a rude manner and demanded that we pay 50,000 for using the "service." They insinuated that since we were travelers, we had money to spare. This left a bad taste in our mouths, and we promptly left. Overall, it was not a great experience, and we would not recommend it or return.
I really enjoyed this beach because it's situated in a stunning location and quite spacious, so it's not too crowded. The sand is soft, so you can walk into the water without hurting your feet. Although the water isn't as clear as other beaches and it's not the cleanest, I still think it's acceptable. You can rent sun beds there and there are one or two restaurants that serve drinks and some food. It's easy to spend the day here and relax, and the atmosphere during sunset is usually lovely. It takes around 15 minutes to walk from central Cat Ba Town, but it's definitely worth visiting! 🏖️👍
