The beach is decent, but there is a notable issue with aggressive monkeys in the vicinity. There have been numerous encounters and altercations with them, including being chased into the sea and occasionally getting bitten. It's important to exercise caution, although there are some pleasant spots as well. The restaurant area mainly offers simple snacks, and occasionally the staff may try to charge for using the toilets.
The beach is incredibly stunning, and there's a lovely viewpoint at the top. However, it's important to be cautious of the monkeys that inhabit the area. While they may appear adorable, it's crucial to remember that they are wild animals. It's best to maintain a safe distance from them to avoid any incidents, as they have been known to snatch personal belongings such as phones, wallets, and glasses. Additionally, they may even resort to biting if they become irritated by your presence.
The beach was incredibly overcrowded, making it impossible to enjoy. People were packed onto every inch of the beach and even spilled over into the nearby restaurants. We decided to take on the challenging hike up Monkey Island. The views were absolutely stunning, but the final part of the hike was perilous, resembling more of a rock climbing adventure than a hike.
The place isn't terrible, but there is definitely room for improvement. There is quite a bit of litter, including plastic bags, floating in the water. The price for a large bottle of water is 30000 dong, which is three times the normal price. Additionally, monkeys frequently come and jump on the tables in an attempt to steal food or drinks. If you want to climb, there is a path on the right end of the beach, but be aware that the left side consists mainly of sharp rocks, making it quite challenging to navigate with flip flops.
The trip was amazing, but I should mention that the hike to the summit is quite risky. I wouldn't advise doing it in sandals, and it's essential to be physically fit beforehand since it's more or less like rock climbing. The monkeys were entertaining and playful, but it's important to be cautious as they can become aggressive.
