The beach in Setúbal is truly breathtaking. While it may take some time to get there via public transportation (Fertagus + bus 4472), it is well worth the journey. Although there are rocks in the sea, if you head to the left side of the beach, you can avoid them and enjoy a refreshing swim. Additionally, this area tends to be less crowded, providing a more peaceful and tranquil experience. If you're feeling peckish or thirsty, there's a bar on site where you can grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink. I highly recommend this beach to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable day trip.
The beach is pleasant, however, it has been left a little unclean after the cyclone and there seems to be a lack of maintenance towards the end of the season. It is important to be cautious of the parking lot scammers located near the main road before the police checkpoint. These individuals will approach you in your vehicle and demand a fee of 4 euros before you can even consider driving downhill towards the beach. It is worth noting that parking downhill next to the beach is free of charge.
If you approach from the Praia da Figueirinha side, the only way to access this beach is by bus due to traffic restrictions. However, if you are fortunate enough to find parking, you can make your way down to a stunning beach. The surrounding mountains provide a picturesque backdrop for this idyllic location. The only drawbacks, which account for the four-star rating, are the distance from the parking area to the beach and the presence of stones in the water. Additionally, the cost of renting an umbrella at 14€ seems steep. Nevertheless, once you set foot on the beach, all of these concerns will fade away. A walk to the nearby Praia do Monte Branco is highly recommended, as it is equally breathtaking. At the end of the day, a tuk-tuk is available to take you back up the hill, but the cost of 2€-3€ per person may be considered excessive.
This beautiful beach with crystal-clear, invigoratingly cool water that offers a refreshing respite from the scorching sun. Safety is a top priority here, as evidenced by the small swimming area that is cordoned off from the rest of the water. For adventurous types, renting a kayak or paddle board is a must-do activity, allowing you to explore the rock formations and even paddle through a mesmerizing crack in the middle.
I have had the misfortune of visiting one of the most underwhelming beaches I've ever encountered. The sheer number of people congregating there made it near impossible to find a decent spot to lay out and enjoy the sun. Additionally, the lack of available parking options made it a frustrating experience just trying to get to the beach. The access road was clogged with illegally parked vehicles, which only added to the chaos. Even if you're willing to walk a considerable distance to get there, the beach bars are not worth the effort, as they close up shop far too early in the evening, leaving you with nothing to do but pack up and leave.
