Istmito Beach is located on the Caribbean Sea (part of South Atlantic Ocean) and it is in the 13th place out of 13 beaches in the Bocas del Toro region 1.6 km away from its center, the city of Bocas del Toro. It is one of the beaches of La Cabana settlement, just 0.1 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a long lasting coastline with brown water and gray sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is almost deserted place even during the high season.

The beach fails to impress, with the exception of the vibrant Bocas del Toro signage that catches the eye. Unfortunately, the overall appearance is unappealing and unclean, leading me to advise against visiting.

In my opinion, the beach in Isla Colón has the potential to become a top tourist destination, but unfortunately it seems to have been overlooked by the local government and some members of the community. The beach is currently plagued with an excessive amount of litter, which detracts from its natural beauty. It used to be a popular spot for locals to gather on Sundays, before tourism became a major focus in the area. It's disheartening to see the current state of the beach and I hope that efforts will be made to restore its charm.

Although this beach has the potential to be stunning, it's currently marred by an overwhelming amount of litter that makes the experience quite repulsive. It's a shame that the residents of Bocas town haven't yet realized the significance of keeping the beach clean, as it could significantly enhance the tourism and boost the economy. If they took the initiative to maintain the beach, not only would they be living in a paradise, but they would also be better off financially.
