Karekare Beach is located on the Tasman Sea and it is in the 10th place out of 86 beaches in the Auckland region The beach is located in a natural place, among the mountains, surrounded by the cliffs.

It is a long lasting coastline with crystal turquoise water and gray sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers, hikers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

Karekare Beach coast is free for all. This beach has the following amenities, toilets. During the season this beach line is supervised by a lifeguard.

Please note, that this shore has a significant low tide.

In addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can also take part in other activities, sea kayaking. There are also some surf spots.

To get to the beach, you need to walk along a mountain trail about 500m long. Parking is located directly on the beach.

Incredible location just a short 5-minute stroll from the parking area. You can truly experience the charm of New Zealand, the power of the ocean and its crashing waves, and the rich darkness of the sand that mirrors the lush greenery of the surrounding vegetation. Don't miss the opportunity to venture to the nearby waterfall, only another 5 minutes from the parking lot. Absolutely stunning.

Incredibly beautiful beach! The Karekare waterfall is only a short 5-minute stroll from the parking area. The road leading to the beach is pleasantly curvy, so it's advisable to drive at a leisurely pace as oncoming vehicles may not be visible around the bends.

Incredible destination. Uncertain of what to anticipate. We parked at the primary parking area and strolled to the waterfall initially. Subsequently, we followed the path close to the bridge leading to the shore. The journey is lengthy but scenic, with a breathtaking gorge where you can listen to birds communicating with one another. The beach itself is a remarkable location - extensive expanses of dark sand, stretching as far as the eye can perceive. Almost resembling being on the lunar surface.

I was absolutely mesmerized when I first arrived at this destination in August 2017. I adored the tranquility and calmness. Being my initial visit to New Zealand, I was constantly in awe of everything, and this experience was no exception. The ebony sand was captivating. The water was crystal clear. Endless stretches of isolated and peaceful shoreline. New Zealand is undeniably a country blessed with natural beauty. Conveniently located near the car park and restroom facilities. Just a short walk across the beach leads to a stunning waterfall and incredible hiking trails. I am eagerly looking forward to returning.
