Santa Maria Beach is located on the Indian ocean and it is in the 6th place out of 5 beaches in the Maputo region 51.2 km away from its center, the city of Matola. It is one of the beaches of Maphanga settlement, just 3.4 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area.

It is a long lasting coastline with crystal turquoise water and bright sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

Santa Maria Beach coast is free for all. It has no amenities, only nature, changing rooms, showers, toilets. .

A last minute getaway was required and we were fortunate to happen upon Machangulo Beach Lodge! Location, facilities, food & Service is top-notch. Ideally situated on Santa Maria, the lodge rooms benefit from amazing views of the surrounding Ocean. Comfortable beds with quality linen, great bathrooms and comfortable furniture adorn the rooms, together with free WIFI.

I really enjoyed it the lodge was perfect and the staff were fantastic They only negative is the boat charter which I find very expensive For four of us it was R13k and the lodge booked for us which I dont recommend as the lodge and the charter company try and get as many people on the charter at a time and you pay full price never mind how many people are on the boat and never mind what time you are ready to leave We were 6 people going to Machangulo that would have loved to go early but we had to wait until three o’clock for another couple who were going to another lodge So book your own it will save you time, money and a massive irritation.

This is one of my all-time favorite beach lodges The people are super nice and the location is amazing. All the rooms are built on the side of a hill overlooking the ocean. I enjoyed watching the sun go down every night from our porch. Food was great too! We will definitely be back!
