A small beach located in close proximity to the Sai Kung pier.
Hap Mun Bay Beach, also known as Half Moon Bay Beach, is one of the two well-known beaches located on Sharp Island in Kiu Tsui Country Park, Sai Kung. Situated on the southern end of the island, it can be easily accessed by frequent sampan and kaito services from Sai Kung, or by hiking along a trail from the northern part of the island. The bay has a distinct half-moon shape, which becomes apparent when you reach higher points along the Sharp Island trail. The beach itself is generally very clean, with fine sand and water quality that is among the best in Hong Kong. As a result, it is a highly popular beach for locals, especially on weekends and public holidays. However, due to its relatively small size, the beach can get quite crowded during the warmer months of the year. Facilities such as changing rooms, showers, public toilets, rafts (available from April to October), lifeguards, BBQ pits, and a refreshment kiosk are available when the beach is open. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic, including Hap Mun Beach, our beaches are currently closed. However, they are expected to reopen at some point later this year. Please note that the sampan and kaito service to Hap Mun Beach costs HK$40 for a return ticket and takes approximately 15-20 minutes each way. Alternatively, you can also take a similar boat service to the main Sharp Island pier on the northern end of the island, which costs HK$30 for a return ticket, and then hike along a 1.5 km trail to reach Hap Mun Beach.
The beach is absolutely stunning, and the transportation options are convenient. It was my first time riding a boat here in Hong Kong, which was quite an exciting experience. However, the weather wasn't favorable during my visit. Despite that, the beach itself was incredibly beautiful.
The beach is lovely, but it gets too crowded on weekends.
The beach is incredibly stunning, with crystal-clear sea water.
