Pui O Beach is located on the South China Sea (part of Pacific ocean) and it is in the 24th place out of 87 beaches in the Hong Kong region The beach is located in an urban area, among the mountains.

It is a long bay with turquoise water and bright sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season. There is a campsite located nearby.

Pui O Beach coast is free for all. This beach has the following amenities, beach restaurant, changing rooms, showers, toilets. There is also possible to take different water activities such as catamarans or jet skis. During the season this beach line is supervised by a lifeguard.

This beach is peaceful and the sand is great. It's not too busy, and the on-site facilities are fairly tidy. Unfortunately, the BBQ pits are closed, but the snack store is open. Additionally, there's a store along the path to the beach - you'll spot it by the yellow cargo container and a few chairs.

I hadn't been to this beach in almost 50 years, but when I returned on 24 Oct 2022, it felt like I was visiting for the first time. The black and yellow sand was the only thing that seemed familiar. There was lifeguard service and the water quality was good. I spent my time swimming and playing the ukulele, and before I left, I took a moment to appreciate the herd of resident buffaloes.

Pui O Beach is a great spot for camping, and it's usually not too crowded on the weekends. To get there, take bus 3M from Tung Chung Station Exit B and get off at the Lo Uk Tsuen stop. Then, cross South Lantau Road and take either of the paths next to Bui O Public School. You can also take a ferry from Central Pier No.
