Red beach is located on the Mediterranean Sea and it is in the 39th place out of 478 beaches in the Crete region 87.6 km away from its center, the city of Kastelli. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of Matala settlement, just 0.7 km from its center. The beach is located in a natural place with very picturesque views, surrounded by the cliffs.

It is a spacious coastline with crystal turquoise water and brown fine sand, so it is recommended to wear special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season. Moreover, this beach is popular with naturists.

The beach is absolutely stunning, although it does require a 35-minute hike to reach it. However, the hike is definitely worth it. It's important to note that the beach does offer basic amenities for visitors to use.

This beach is definitely worth a visit. It's much nicer, clearer, and more exotic than Matala. Just make sure to wear good shoes and start your hike around 7:00 a.m. because it can get very hot later in the day. The hike and views are definitely worth the effort.

In early May, we stumbled upon a delightful beach that was both entertaining and peaceful. The sand was soft and the beach was relatively empty, making it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Adjacent to the beach was a funky bar that added to the overall charm of the place. Although it required a 45-minute hike to reach, the journey was well worth it. On the right side of the beach, there were some fascinating rock sculptures that were definitely worth exploring.

Lately, the left side of the beach has become rocky and filled with larger pebbles, causing most people to flock to the right side (which is mainly the FKK section) or directly in front of Giannis tavern in the center. Despite this, the water remains clear and pristine (although it can be choppy at times due to waves and wind), with soft sand and a gentle entry into the sea.
