The frigid waters may leave you feeling like a human popsicle, but at least you won't have to share this picturesque beach with any pesky crowds. I must say, the scenery is rather fetching. I suppose it's worth a visit if you're into that sort of thing.
This charming cove located in the southern region of Crete boasts of pristine waters and breathtaking scenery. Although the access roads may not be the most well-maintained, the effort of reaching this hidden gem is undoubtedly rewarding. The transparency of the waters is unparalleled, and the surrounding terrain is simply stunning. It is a must-visit destination for those seeking a peaceful and picturesque beach experience.
This beach is a fascinating spot for those who enjoy small-scale freediving. With water depths ranging from 10-15 meters on both sides of the shore, there is plenty to explore. The west side boasts a rock arch and a vertical cliff that can be explored underwater, while the east side features an inclined, cracked rock plateau on the sea bottom. The island is also within close proximity, providing a stunning backdrop to your underwater adventures. Despite the trashy gravel road leading to Kali Limenes, the beach remains a popular camping spot for those seeking a unique experience away from mainstream tourism. The visibility is excellent, making it an ideal spot for underwater photography. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend it to fellow freedivers.
The beach at kaloi limenes may seem amazing at first, but the journey to get there is filled with countless turns that will leave you feeling dizzy and disoriented. Despite the effort it takes to get there, the beach itself is not much to write home about. While it may be protected from the wind and waves, there are no amenities to speak of - no sunbeds, no water, nothing. The road leading down to the beach is treacherous and not suitable for normal cars - only 4x4s or SUVs should attempt the journey. Even if you do make it down to the beach, you'll need to bring your own umbrella, water, and snorkeling equipment, as there's nothing available on-site. While the water may be crystal clear, don't expect to see anything particularly interesting - just a few fish swimming around. Overall, this beach is not worth the effort it takes to get there.
