Playa Estillero is located on the Atlantic ocean and it is in the 76th place out of 246 beaches in the Dominican Republic region 106.6 km away from its center, the city of Santo Domingo. It is one of the beaches of La Barbacoa settlement, just 2.1 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a long bay with crystal turquoise water and pure bright fine sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers, pet owners etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

Playa Estillero coast is free for all. It has no amenities, only nature. .

Nestled in Samana lies the serene Playa Estillero, a quaint fishing village with a tranquil atmosphere and a small population. The beach is a true gem, adorned with lush greenery and towering trees that add to its natural beauty. Although my experience was slightly marred by pesky mosquitoes and insects, I remain hopeful that with further development, the beach will flourish with activity and better pest control. Who knows what the future holds, but I wish this hidden paradise all the luck in the world.

This beach definitely deserves a solid 6 stars for its picturesque location and serene, tranquil waters. However, my right leg seems to have been a buffet for the local no see ums, with a whopping 101 bites in just 45 minutes. As if that wasn't enough, the beach restaurant decided to add insult to injury by refusing to cook for non-guests. I would have gladly paid USD$10 for access to a lounge chair and gazebo, but alas, they missed out on a prime opportunity to gouge me with their overpriced tourist food. Overall, a mixed bag of an experience.
