Vela beach is located on the Adriatic Sea (part of Mediterranean Sea) and it is in the 9th place out of 315 beaches in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar region 46.9 km away from its center, the city of Rijeka. It is one of the beaches of Baska settlement, just 0.5 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area, among the mountains.

It is a long bay with turquoise water and light fine pebble, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season. There is a campsite located nearby.

Despite the fact that a significant part of the beach is occupied by resorts, there is still a fairly large area with free access. The beach facilities are only available to visitors of resort area. Their list includes, loungers and umbrellas, beach restaurant, changing rooms, showers, toilets. There is also possible to take different water activities such as catamarans or jet skis. This area has also a water park in the sea with various inflatable toys which constitute excellent activities for parents and children. During the season this beach line is supervised by a lifeguard.

In addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can also take part in other activities, sup-surfing, sea kayaking.

It's impossible to put into words how stunning this beach is. Even photos don't do it justice. The water is crystal clear and although it's chilly, it's incredibly refreshing in the scorching 31+ degree Celsius heat. I absolutely adored it.
