If you're looking for a quick detour en route to Ram Head point, Salt Pond Bay beach is a stunning spot that won't disappoint. Take a gander at the salt pond and Drunk Bay while you're at it - they're all part of this charming, interconnected network of natural beauty in the southeastern corner of the USVI national park. Just be sure to watch your step if you're feeling tipsy from the area's namesake beach!
The trek to Salt Pond Bay Beach is definitely worth it, even if it takes around 30 minutes of challenging and rocky terrain. Make sure to bring plenty of water and take the Ram Head trail for the best experience. Once you arrive, you'll be greeted by a unique beach full of stones that transform into a stunning jade green when wet. Take some time to dig in the sand and discover shells of all colors, ranging from pink and purple to red, orange, and yellow. You'll also find plenty of fossilized coral to admire. Remember to leave everything as you found it and resist the urge to take anything with you.
The snorkeling experience at this location is truly extraordinary. It appears to be a well-kept secret as there were no boats or other snorkelers in sight throughout the entire day. Although it requires a bit of a trek to get there, the effort is well worth it.
