Fantastic spot to observe the whales and sunsets! Ideal and relaxed beach for a leisurely walk or to soak up the sun.
Perfect for unwinding but too many pebbles for a leisurely swim.
Lovely expansive shoreline with ample space for relaxation. Spacious parking area for convenient beach entry. Picnic benches available for outdoor dining.
2023: Once again, this beach area remains a delightful destination. Ample parking is available, and there is plenty of space for all visitors. Numerous lava flows provide excellent photo opportunities and exploration. 2022: We decided to visit this beach at sunset. The evening we chose was ideal - the crowd was minimal, and the beach appeared pleasant. While not as pristine as some other beaches we had been to, it was still enjoyable.
Expansive shoreline that appears to be a hidden gem. The beach is rugged, with slightly choppy waves, yet it boasts numerous secluded nooks and pools where you can observe small fish, crabs, and sea urchins. When you scoop up a handful of sand by the water's edge, you may be pleasantly surprised to find a hermit crab among the tiny shells! The parking area is spacious and complimentary, making it effortless to secure a spot away from the crowds. We managed to carve out our own little oasis for an hour during the busiest part of the day. To top it off, a sea turtle paid us a visit, swimming in and leisurely hanging out nearby. If you happen to encounter a turtle, resist the urge to chase or touch it. Simply allow it to go about its business. In our case, the turtle nearly swam right up to us before we even noticed its presence.
