Descanso Beach

Okay. This would have been a 3-star review if we had a couple of drinks. HOWEVER: Service: Couldn't be better. Each server is assigned to a specific row, and we were lucky to have Julian. He was amazing, and we never had to ask, Where's our server? He was truly incredible. Chairs/Beach: When we arrived, my expectations were low. Our chairs had sand from previous visitors on them, and our umbrella didn't have the angle feature. However, it turned out to be great. The beach is rocky like every other beach here, but it had a really fun and fantastic atmosphere. I wish they would rope off a section because when you go from the lounge chair to the water, you have to walk over and through the crowded public beach. Here's my complaint that took away a star: They definitely dilute or use very little alcohol in their drinks. There's no way they can deny it. I started with 3 mixed drinks, and it felt like I spent $45 on juice (no buzz at all, and usually 1-2 drinks are enough for me). I informed the server, and the only option offered was a double, which costs around $25. So I would have to pay $75 for 3 real drinks. I understand it's a touristy place, but you can really tell the lack of alcohol in the frozen drinks (dark liquor against a white frozen mixer). It just doesn't sit well with me. I love the fun summer drinks, but if I had to start over, I would stick to beers the whole time. They can't dilute or skimp on those. With a bill of $250, I felt that the only drinks with alcohol were the beers. It's just disappointing at $16 per drink. Overall, it was a fantastic day at the beach, and renting the lounge chairs is a must. I wouldn't go for the cabana (located at the back), but getting the chairs is worth it to avoid the overly crowded public section. The food was good, the drinks were good (except for the alcohol content), the service was good, and the environment was great!

I absolutely adore Descanso! My friends and I make it a point to come here every summer ☀️ The staff is exceptionally attentive and always go the extra mile. The drinks they serve are absolutely delightful! I highly recommend this place 👌

The place was incredibly relaxing, offering a delightful view. The food was delicious, and the drinks were also quite good, although they were slightly strong for my taste, but still enjoyable.

We arrived on the 7 am boat and found that most places wouldn't open until 9. So, we decided to walk from Port to descanso Beach club and set up our towels and chairs. Afterward, we headed to the main part of town for breakfast and rented bikes for the day. We explored the entire island and when we returned to our spot, our towels were still there, surrounded by other people's setups. A waitress came by to serve us drinks and food. The only downside was when we were leaving to catch the 4 pm boat, we discovered that someone had stolen my rented electric bike. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only one who had their bike taken. Surprisingly, they didn't bother with my husband's mountain bike, only the electric ones were targeted.

This beach is incredibly enjoyable! We had a fantastic day soaking up the sun. It's highly recommended to book lounge chairs in advance - it's definitely worth it. The food and drinks are also outstanding; we really enjoyed the tuna poke bowl and guacamole. However, the highlight of our day was our server, Raul. He was extremely attentive and always made sure we had everything we desired. We will definitely return!
