The tropical paradise of Hawaii left an indelible impression on me - an experience that I will cherish forever. While the beach was not ideally suited for my young daughters aged 5 and 3, it was a serene and peaceful haven for those in their teens and above. The tranquil waters and uncrowded shores were a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The western side of Oahu boasts a stunningly pristine sandy beach that stretches for nearly a quarter mile, where natural yellow sand and crystal blue ocean water seem to play a never-ending game of tug-o-war. This picturesque location is home to two beachfront condos, namely The Hawaiian Princess and Makaha Beach Cabanas. Visitors can spot humpback whales between October and May, while resident spinner dolphins frolic year-round, adding to the charm of the place. The southern side of the beach features Mauna Lahilahi, a perfect spot for hiking and taking in the incredible views. Locals love to fish on the shore, and a boat mooring sits off the point in 90 feet of water, marking a popular cave for scuba divers. However, it's important to note that dangerous conditions exist here, and there are no lifeguards on duty. The waves create strong rip currents, and only experienced swimmers should venture into the water. Visitors should beware, as conditions can change rapidly, making it essential to stay alert at all times.
I had the pleasure of indulging in some fishing at this stunning beach. The atmosphere was simply breathtaking, and I was pleasantly surprised by the good crowd that had gathered. Despite the ongoing pandemic, there were visible efforts to maintain social distancing protocols, which was reassuring. Overall, it was a beautiful day spent in the company of nature's finest offerings.
This particular beach is an absolute gem on the island. It boasts a decent surf on the right-hand side, perfect for bodyboarding enthusiasts, while the left-hand side offers tranquil tides for those who prefer a more peaceful swim. Snorkeling enthusiasts will also be thrilled to know that there is an abundance of good coral in the area. For those who are feeling adventurous, a hike up to the top of turtle rock, situated right next to the beach, offers an unparalleled and breathtaking view. Without a doubt, this beach comes highly recommended.
This stunning beach boasts a serene atmosphere that is perfect for unwinding and enjoying the breathtaking sunset. Although the decline is quite steep, it adds to the unique charm of the beach, creating an ideal spot for floating or swimming. It's an excellent place to soak up the sun, unwind, and appreciate the natural beauty around you.
