It seems that some people who claim this beach is not open to the public are referring to the fact that it is not suitable for parking gas-guzzling vehicles and unloading a plethora of supplies for a jam-packed weekend at the shore. However, this beautiful beach is easily accessible to those who prefer a more solitary stroll, with entrances available from Cassidy St. in O-side (or a slightly riskier entrance further down S. Pacific St.) or, for the adventurous, a 40-yard trek from Ocean Street in Carlsbad. While some may attempt to keep this beach a local secret, it is actually the discerning few who venture beyond the creek or south of Cassidy St. The general public tends to remain closer to the entrances, if only because it is impossible to set up a beach party on sand that disappears with each high tide. On a side note, it is worth mentioning that Saint Malo is located on the Atlantic coast of France, in Brittany, not Normandy. Let's get our facts straight. Lastly, while I may not be a fan of the wealthy, I must admit that the architecture in this community far surpasses that of typical McMansions.
Me and my companions embarked on a seaside stroll from the pier to Carlsbad village, but the high tide blocked our path. The only way to reach our destination was through a restricted area, but the guard denied us entry. With no other choice, we had to traverse the train tracks to reach Carlsbad, as the alternative was to backtrack a mile.
Unfortunately, this beach seems to be off-limits to the general public, which is a real shame. It looked absolutely stunning on Google Maps, but it would have been helpful if it had been made clear that it is actually a private community beach. This is particularly disappointing given the current rise in gas prices, as it means that visitors have wasted their time and money trying to access a beach that they cannot actually use.
In California, the notion of a Private Beach is non-existent, my dear friends! If you encountered any difficulty accessing the beach, it's because the haughty individuals who possess land ADJACENT TO the beach have unlawfully obstructed access. Don't hesitate to file a complaint and create a ruckus until access is reinstated. For inspiration, learn about the Malibu residents who were penalized $4.2 million for preventing entry to our coast, then confidently stride through their ostentatious house, as it is your entitlement as a citizen.
The beach is an extraordinary location that gives the impression of being transported to a charming French village. The ambiance is simply breathtaking and creates a unique atmosphere that is unmatched by any other beach.
