I really enjoy this beach, it offers plenty of parking, as well as showers and changing rooms.
This beach in Maine is definitely one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. I'm a big fan of its location, and the sandy beach is very spacious. As expected, the water is quite chilly, but having lifeguards around gives me peace of mind. Plus, the option to rent chairs and umbrellas is a nice touch. I always make a point to visit this beach whenever I'm in the area.
I visited the beach around 1pm and noticed a possible storm approaching, but decided to stay. We paid the $14 fee for entry and parking, and were setting up our chairs when a lifeguard informed us that we had to leave due to the incoming storm. We asked if it was just a suggestion, but were told we had to leave immediately. We understood, but were disappointed that we didn't get to enjoy the beach at all. When we asked for a refund, the person at the booth refused, even though we had only been there for 10 minutes and had a receipt showing the time of entry. The absence of a refund sign was also conveniently explained away. Although it was only $14, we were frustrated with the situation. We recommend going to Ferry beach instead for a better view and possible free parking.
Finding a parking spot can be challenging and the location is not exactly what one would consider a typical beach. It may be more worthwhile to head south towards Rhode Island or Massachusetts for a proper beach experience, rather than a clay peninsula with salt water.
When the tide is high, the beach has a greater amount of gravel. It's a great spot to collect lovely pebbles. Additionally, there's a fresh water washing service available.
