It's always wonderful to visit during the summer! Numerous families and diverse cultures come together to enjoy the sun. The majority of the beach is clean, and the bathrooms are well-maintained. It's a welcoming beach, as the waves are typically gentle. Perfect for families with children. 🏖️
Long Island's hidden treasure, this beach offers a delightful blend of picnicking, swimming, and immersing oneself in nature. The hiking trails may consist mostly of uneven sand, but they still provide an enjoyable experience. Moreover, the presence of a designated area for dogs adds to the joyous atmosphere, as the contented canines can be seen wagging their tails with delight. In the distance, a playground filled with cheerful children adds to the overall happiness of the place. Without a doubt, I will be returning for another visit!
This beach is the ultimate spot to observe people from diverse cultures. It is a safe and family-friendly destination, boasting a spacious playground. However, the bathrooms could use some improvement as they are not very clean. On the bright side, there is a snack bar available during the day and ample parking space.
This review is specifically about the hiking trails at Sunken Meadow. One option is to create a beautiful loop by combining the Greenbelt trail from parking lot 3 to Kings Park Bluff, and then returning along the shoreline. Another possibility is to return via an unmarked trail near St Johnland cemetery. I also explored the less popular Wetland trail from parking lot 2. To complete a loop, you can return via Sunken Meadow road, but be aware that it can be quite busy.
The beach is very convenient as it offers a lot of amenities such as bathrooms and outdoor showers. Additionally, you have the option to walk or run on the boardwalk or trails, and bike riding is only permitted during certain hours. There is plenty of parking available for a fee of $10.00, and there are also picnic and grill areas for visitors to enjoy. Of course, the main attraction is the beach itself, where you can find sunbathers and fishermen/women. During the season, there are lifeguards on duty for safety. Furthermore, there are fast food options available, making it an all-inclusive experience.
