I really enjoyed strolling along the pier with my family. The views were absolutely stunning. While we were on the pier, we had the incredible opportunity to witness two baby dolphins leaping in the water. The breeze was absolutely delightful! This beach is perfect for spending quality time with family or simply escaping from the daily routine while observing the birds and the vast ocean.
Last week, my husband, son, and I had the opportunity to visit a beach. It had been more than 6 years since my last vacation, and over 12 years since I had seen any beach at all, as I am from the West Coast. The beach itself was absolutely fantastic. We arrived at noon and departed at 5pm, as we didn't want to get home too late after the 4-hour drive. It was just a day trip. Although I remembered to apply sunscreen on my child, I completely forgot about us, which was quite amusing. So, don't forget to bring sunscreen! The lifeguards on duty were extremely attentive. The shelling experience was truly extraordinary! If you are interested in finding complete shells, make sure to visit during low tide and search along the tide lines. I found some beautiful micro mini shells that were fully intact. However, it's important to be aware of local state laws and guidelines, as some shells are protected. As for the pier itself, it was absolutely amazing! Yes, it is free to access. However, if you plan on fishing, there is a fee. Additionally, parking is not free. But considering that we planned to spend a few hours there, paying $20 for a day pass was quite affordable. The payment process was quick and easy. I would recommend researching how to pay beforehand and having it ready. We parked right next to the pier, and within 5 minutes of walking down the ramp, we had paid for a full 24 hours of parking. Don't forget to take plenty of photos! I know some people try to have phone-free vacations, but capturing every moment is truly worth it. Thank you, Kure, for making this year and decade memorable for me, and especially for giving my son the opportunity to see the beach for the first time ever!
The beach is really nice, with a peaceful scenery and it's enjoyable to see everyone fishing. The pelicans also make the experience even more special. The only problem I had was the way they distribute the fishing permits - they staple them to the bottom of your shirt, which ruined a good T-shirt. I wish they had a better solution for that. Apart from that, the store at the beach has a great selection of fishing supplies and quick snacks.
The pier is quite lengthy, and there is no charge for strolling along it unless you have an interest in fishing. It seemed like the fishing conditions were decent. Unlike other fishing piers, this one appeared to be relatively clean, suggesting that people take responsibility for tidying up their surroundings. The beach offers stunning scenery, and the breeze is just as anticipated.
Kure Beach is a hidden treasure that's just a short drive from Charlotte, and let me tell you, it's definitely worth the trip. The stunning pier offers breathtaking views, a refreshing sea breeze, and a truly unique experience standing on it. Whether you're looking for beautiful photo opportunities, a romantic escape, or simply a weekend retreat to relax, this place is perfect, far away from the busy city life. There is plenty of parking available, so you can easily leave your car and take a leisurely walk to the pier. Spending hours on the pier and then going down to the pristine beach, you'll find a clean and peaceful sanctuary where you can set up your tent or chairs, lose yourself in a good book, or simply enjoy the warm sun with no specific plans. Kure Beach is definitely a must-see destination in North Carolina and an ideal weekend getaway from Charlotte.
