The location was great, but unfortunately, that's about the only positive thing I can say. The room was disgusting. Despite calling ahead a few weeks in advance, I was told that I couldn't add another night because the room wasn't available. However, I later discovered that it was still available to book online for our dates. I used the online chat and they were able to book it for me without any issues. Upon arrival, the room had a strange smell. As I walked through, it became evident that the room had not been cleaned. There was food stuck to the countertops, and both food and sand were still present in the chairs. The bathroom was dirty, and the shelf where they had placed "clean" towels hadn't been wiped in ages. The curtains had stains and holes, emitting a peculiar odor. There were also stains on the sheets and pillows, and the floor was extremely dirty. I understand that it's difficult to completely eliminate every grain of sand at the beach, but this room had clearly not been touched. I always bring cleaning supplies because I have a one-year-old who tends to touch everything, so I ended up cleaning everything myself. However, my husband had to go out and buy a mop. The staff offered to send housekeeping, but at that point, it was easier for us to do it ourselves. The same situation applied to the pools. I specifically chose this place because I wanted plenty of water activities for my one-year-old, but they were poorly maintained. There was gunk built up around the edges, excessive debris floating in the water (not just grass and leaves), and sand at the bottom. I've stayed at many beachfront properties before, so I understand that some guests may not clean off properly before entering the pool, but the lack of maintenance was evident. We particularly enjoy lazy rivers, and I always look for that when booking a place, but it wasn't functioning and was closed. At around 11:25 last night, the smoke alarm started chirping due to a low battery. My husband tried to remove the battery so that it wouldn't wake up our baby, but that didn't resolve the issue. So, I called the front desk. I was informed that maintenance had already left for the day, but security would bring up a new battery. I waited by the door for 25 minutes, hoping they wouldn't wake up the baby, but nobody ever showed up. Frustrated, my husband went down to the front desk, where he was told that they didn't have a battery. When he questioned why nobody had informed us, the staff member simply stared at him. He eventually walked away and went to a nearby gas station to buy a battery so that we could finally get some sleep. I'm extremely disappointed. I booked this as a gift for my mom, who takes care of our baby while we work, and it's disheartening that our experience has been so unpleasant. I definitely would not recommend this place and will not stay here again.
I stayed at this beach for a week and I definitely plan on returning for another vacation in the future. There were plenty of great restaurants nearby, including one on the first floor next to the Starbucks. Most of them were within walking distance, while others that required a car were only a short 5 to 10-minute drive away. The room service was attentive and always checked in with us in the mornings to see if we needed anything. Additionally, the pools and hot tubs were well-maintained and kept clean.
On the day we arrived for check-in, the parking situation was temporarily disorganized. We had asked for the highest available floor, but we were told that our request had not been entered into the system. Despite this, we were satisfied with our room on the 6th floor. Hopefully, if we decide to book again in the future, we won't encounter this issue. Now, on the positive side! The room was quiet and spacious, and it was cleaned very professionally. The balcony was great, and the amenities were satisfactory. The breakfast was excellent. On the second day, the front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating.
I had made a reservation for an oceanfront king room, but they initially placed my husband and me in a double room with a partial ocean view. When I contacted the front desk to inform them about the mistake, they asked me what the problem was. Consequently, I had to go back to the front desk to get the situation resolved. The room itself was pleasant, and the balcony was quite spacious. However, when it came time to check out, my card was charged again. I had to call and speak with a manager about being overcharged. The manager requested that I email them the confirmation with the correct price. I sent the email on the same day, but I did not receive a response for a week. I had to call again myself, and when I spoke with the manager once more, they had not even opened my email. It was only after this last phone call that I was finally reimbursed. Overall, I feel that I had to go through too much trouble at the beginning and end just to have my issues resolved, which makes me hesitant to stay there again.
I would not recommend staying at this beach. We stayed for five days and four nights in September 2023 for a family vacation, but the overall cleanliness was absolutely terrible. To begin with, there were roaches present. On the first evening, our socks turned black from walking on the floor, indicating that it had not been mopped. Additionally, there was caked-on dirt visible on all the baseboards. We also discovered mold under and around the sink. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes at all, despite trying two different types of detergent. The King bed did not have a mattress cover, and the pull-out sofa bed was extremely dirty, clearly not having been cleaned in a while. The lint trap in the machine was so full and clogged that we had to clean it out, which presented a serious fire hazard. It was evident that the staff had not checked it. Furthermore, one of the blankets on the bed had stains, and the pillows were also covered in stains. The coffee pot had not been checked or cleaned, as there was an old dried-up tea bag inside when we went to use it. On the first night, we had a bag stolen at the pool. Every staff member we encountered around the pools was constantly on their phones and never once got up or moved. The pools themselves were quite dirty, with gunk accumulating around the edges and debris floating in the water. The children's pool near the water slide was especially disgusting, filled with leaves, bird feathers, food brochures, and cupcake wrappers. Additionally, the stairs leading to the water slide had a massive amount of caked-on bird poop, which obviously no one bothered to clean. To make matters worse, the furniture was not secured to the wall or in any way, and our toddler had a very close call with a dresser almost falling over on her.
