Bang Por Beach is located on the Gulf of Thailand (part of South China Sea) and it is in the 22th place out of 95 beaches in the Surat Thani region 82.9 km away from its center, the city of Surat Thani. It is one of the beaches of Baan Thong Po settlement, just 0.3 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a long lasting coastline with crystal turquoise water and pure bright fine sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

The current state of the beach is disheartening, with only a mere five meters of sand left. The shore is littered with an abundance of natural debris, including leaves, coconut remnants, and seaweed. It begs the question, what is occurring with Thailand's beaches? Has there been a rise in sea levels or a series of intense storms within the past few years? It seems that many other locations are experiencing a similar decrease in their beach width.

This beach is touted as a picturesque and serene spot for a leisurely stroll or a refreshing dip in the water. The translucent quality of the ocean is impressive, and the beach itself is well-maintained. However, the abundance of restaurants in the area is not all it's cracked up to be. As it turns out, many of these establishments are closed, which puts a damper on an otherwise enjoyable experience. It's a shame that such a lovely location is marred by the lack of available dining options.
