Praia da Caveira is located on the South Atlantic Ocean (part of Atlantic ocean) and it is in the 222th place out of 228 beaches in the São Paulo region 144.5 km away from its center, the city of São Paulo. It is one of the beaches of Castelhanos settlement, just 5.6 km from its center. The beach is located in a natural place, among the mountains. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a small bay with crystal turquoise water and bright sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers, hikers etc. It is not crowded place during the season.

The beach is not easily accessible due to the abundance of rocks and seaweed. However, it is an excellent spot for diving and snorkeling with a mask. A small stream runs alongside the sandy shore. There is a trail that leads from Praia da Ganxuma and Praia da Serraria, although it is not very well marked.
