Pontal do Atalaia Beach is located on the South Atlantic Ocean (part of Atlantic ocean) and it is in the 25th place out of 375 beaches in the Rio de Janeiro region 123 km away from its center, the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the beaches of Arraial do Cabo settlement, just 2.8 km from its center. The beach is located in a natural place with very picturesque views, among the mountains, surrounded by the cliffs.

It is a spacious coastline with crystal turquoise water and white fine sand, so you don't need special shoes. The entrance to the water is very smooth. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is very crowded place during the season.

Pontal do Atalaia Beach coast is free for all. This beach has the following amenities, beach restaurant, toilets. There is also possible to take different water activities such as catamarans or jet skis. During the season this beach line is supervised by a lifeguard.

Let's not waste time gushing about the stunning beauty of this beach. Instead, let me give you some practical advice: steer clear of this place on weekends and holidays if you want to avoid the maddening crowds. And forget about trying to get there on your own - trust me, it's a nightmare. Your best bet is to book a private tour, ideally by boat from praia dos anjos. Unless you're up for a grueling trek or an ungodly early wake-up call (think 7am on weekends) just to find a parking spot on the road above the beach. If you're really desperate to avoid boats, then hail a taxi to take you to the entrance of the road leading to the beach.
