Morcego Beach is located on the South Atlantic Ocean (part of Atlantic ocean) and it is in the 108th place out of 375 beaches in the Rio de Janeiro region 9.3 km away from its center, the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the beaches of Niteroi settlement, just 3.8 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area with very picturesque views, among the mountains, surrounded by the cliffs.

It is a small several bays coastline with green water and bright sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season.

Praia do Morcego is a hidden gem that is yet to be discovered by many. During my visit on a Sunday morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find only a handful of people on the beach. The tranquility of the place was truly refreshing. Apart from the two small stretches of sand, there is also a "natural pool" located a mere 50 meters away. This unique feature adds to the charm of the beach and provides a perfect spot for relaxation after a swim. Overall, Praia do Morcego is a delightful place to visit for those seeking a peaceful and secluded beach experience. Its serene atmosphere and natural beauty make it a must-visit destination.

Let me tell you about this so-called "beach" I visited. It was nothing more than a glorified sandbox with some water nearby. The sand was scorching hot and got everywhere, even in places I didn't know existed. And don't even get me started on the water - it was freezing cold and full of seaweed. The only saving grace was the view, but even that was ruined by the hoards of tourists taking selfies and leaving their trash everywhere. Save yourself the trouble and just stay home.
