Sumaca Beach is located on the South Atlantic Ocean (part of Atlantic ocean) and it is in the 344th place out of 375 beaches in the Rio de Janeiro region 141.6 km away from its center, the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the beaches of Itanema settlement, just 3.5 km from its center. The beach is located in a natural place, among the mountains. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a spacious bay with crystal turquoise water and bright sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers, hikers etc. It is not crowded place during the season. There is a campsite located nearby.

The beach is absolutely lovely and definitely worth a visit. It's important to note that there is free public entry, which is a great bonus. Our experience was enhanced by going with the ecovaletur company, who provided a boat and guide.

The beach is stunning with its mesmerizing water color. We accessed it through the trail starting from Cajaiba, although you could also try bargaining with a boatman, but it might be expensive.
